Pre wedding photography – Don & Racheal
Don and Racheal, met me in the city for a Sunday afternoon pre wedding shoot. Their wedding is happening later in the year in Malaysia and they wanted to take an album and photos along to reflect their life in Melbourne.
Racheal organised a makeup artist and hired a bridal gown specifically for the occasion. We started off in the Fitzroy Gardens, making use of the many opportunities that presnted themselves as we strolled around these beautiful gardens. From there, we headed off to the St Kilda Pier and the restaurant at the end of the pier. This location holds special memories for them both. After taking some shots over the water and on the beachfront, we headed down to Acland Street to their favourite cafe for a cuppa and some candid mood shots. A lovely day was had by all.
St Kilda Botanic Gardens to Southbank
Andrea and Leigh were married in the St Kilda Botanic Gardens. There is an amphitheatre style landscaping around the gazebo with paths and flower beds in semi circular swaths. Tall hedging at the back creates a lovely intimate feel – even though it is quite spacious.
After a moving ceremony, we took some family shots in front of the gazebo and headed off to St Kilda beach and the pier across from Fitzroy Street. It was extremely windy, extra care needed to keeps veils on heads – with the sun popping in and out from behind the clouds. The late afternoon sun allowed me plenty of flexibility in photographic style and use of light. taking shots into the setting sun and silhouette shots over the glaring, reflecting water.
From here we set off for Southbank in Melbourne to EQ, a venue located in the Arts Centre, cornering St Kilda Road and Southbank. I took plenty of candid shots at the reception and was there for cake cutting, speeches and some more shots looking over the city across the Yarra River. I had an hour and a half to fight through Friday traffic to head across Melbourne to Diamond Creek and reception venue Ashton Manor for a second evening wedding.
Alena & Dean – Sandringham to St Kilda
Alena and Dean were married at the Rotunda on Sandringham Beach – the second time this week I had been to Sandringham for a wedding. After a beautiful ceremony on the top tier of the Rotunda, we went down to the beach for some shots and travelled down to St. Kilda to the Restaurant at the end of St Kilda Pier. We were lucky to get a beautiful sunset when we arrived in St Kilda. Here are some shots of the day.
